ABOUT THE HONORARY COURSE ADVISOR

Dr Sheetal Chopra
PhD, MSc, LLB, Registered Indian Patent Agent and Director- IPR Policy, Ericsson India
Dr. Sheetal Chopra is an honorary course advisor for the Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination (IPTSE) program. With over 2 decades of industry experience in Public Policy, Education, Research and Government Affairs, Sheetal is a registered Indian Patent Agent and an author of the book for “Patent Practitioners and Patent Agents” by Notion Press, available on Amazon. Additionally, she has authored the book, “A Story Book of Intellectual Property”, which is available in both English and Hindi.
Sheetal is not only an avid speaker at national and international forums but also holds immense expertise in international trade, advocacy, and policy development both at domestic and international levels. Besides, she assists in design, development, negotiation, consensus-building and implementation of international trade laws and international regulations, apart from regularly sharing her inputs on policy-making for sustainable development of the Indian and international economy. She is also a trainer and guest faculty at various educational institutions.

Dr. H. Purushotham
DPIIT-IPR chair position at Andhra University
Dr Purushotham is currently holding DPIIT-IPR chair position at Andhra University. He also held the position of Chairman and Managing Director, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. He obtained B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University Visakhapatnam (1982), M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, M.B.A. from IGNOU and PhD from Osmania University. He has acquired over 36 years of diverse experience across the innovation value chain by working at different government institutions of repute. He has facilitated commercialization/tech transfer of about 500 IPs/Technologies to SMEs/start ups in different domains in India and abroad. He is a recipient of about 15 national and international awards. He also facilitated establishing 4 incubation centres and filing of about 300 IPs in India and abroad. He was also awarded CEO of the year 2017 from ICC for bringing turnaround in NRDC and best PSU from Government.

Dr Alka Chawla
Dr. Alka Chawla is currently teaching Intellectual Property , Administrative Law and Jurisprudence and she also obtained a Ph.D. in Copyright Law from the university of Delhi. She also got listed in the “Top hundred powerful women in Law” list in 2017 by the World IP Forum. She also got nominated for many awards including the “ National Expert on Intellectual Property” and received ‘The Teacher of the Year Award (female)’ in 2018. She has also written a number of research papers and articles in various reputed journals and she is also an author of two book based on Copyright Laws published by Macmillan and Lexis Nexis. Besides this, she is also an author of a report on Counterfeiting and Piracy in India. She has also delivered lectures in various reputed institutions and universities throughout the world. She has also been delivering seminars, workshops and courses conducted by the WIPO , US Patent and Trademark Office, UGC, etc.

Mr. Rajeev Arora
Mr Rajeev Arora is an MBA in Finance & Marketing, CAIIB-I, AMFI certified professional, a Turnaround specialist, People Manager and a Business Driver with an illustrious career of 25+ years spanning across geographies (India, Africa, GCC) in Banking, Financial Service and Insurance sectors.
In his extremely successful career journey leading turnaround delivery and transformation across organizations, he was the DGM & Head Business, Transformation and Strategy for Muscat Finance, Oman till June 2021. Prior to that he served Bank Sohar in Oman as the Head Retail Banking & Head Retail Strategic Initiatives, was instrumental in the retail growth story at Yes Bank as Head North & East India. His prior work experience happens to be with esteemed organizations like ICICI Bank, Rawbank (DRC, Africa), HDFC Bank, Max Life Insurance and HSBC.
Currently based out of UAE, he is supporting multiple organizations across industry sectors on their business transformation and strategic initiatives by providing robust management consultancy and business advisory

Mr. Ashok Shukla
Mr Ashok Shukla has 40+ years of industry and entrepreneurial experience who has intensive understanding of Intellectual Property. He is a member of various IPR committees of chambers/industry bodies and has been vocal in advocating for a robust IP culture. Mr Shukla has been the strong voice of small, medium and micro enterprises and has been highlighting the issues faced by SMEs at several fronts including IPRs.

Ms. Lohita Sujith
Lohita Sujith is the Senior Director, Copyright & Digital Economy at the Motion Picture Association, India office that represents Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros., NBC Universal, Viacom and Sony Pictures. She has contributed to significant policy areas for the growth of the media and entertainment sector in India including the setup of India’s Film Commission and promotion of state production and tax incentives and film tourism. Lohita has also contributed to various intellectual property (IP) promotion and anti-piracy initiatives including the launch of the Maharashtra Cyber Digital Crime Unit, a specialised cell to combat copyright infringement where she was a former advisor. She has previously worked for Disney – Star, India where she was responsible for strategic and public policy campaigns. She has been appreciated as a resource person for IP law enforcement training by CIPAM, DPIIT , Ministry of Commerce and Industry and has been recognized as “Powerful Women in IP in India, 2021 ” by the World IP Forum for her contribution towards protecting and securing intellectual property. Lohita is a member of FICCI’s IP committee and the International Legal Alliance.

Ms. Powlami Ghosh
Ms Powlami Ghosh is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) who has an expertise in taking ideas to market. She has more than 15 years of experience working with Industry and academia. She has an expertise in the field of IP portfolio management, IP due diligence, IP audit & IP budgeting and IP Commercialization/Technology/knowledge transfer (through licensing, spin out, social enterprise). She is currently serving in UK’s prestigious University.

Ms. Ankita Tyagi
Ankita is responsible for promoting innovation and bilateral cooperation of Europe and India by identifying and liaising with relevant stakeholders through collaborations. She is expert in curating international market access programmes for Startups and SME's. She has 13+ years of experience with government & industry. She is also certified IP Expert and Master Trainers of Patent Information Resources. She facilitates and promotes innovation and bilateral cooperation of Europe and India by identifying and liaising with relevant stakeholders through collaborations. Responsible for the international trade and development industry in negotiation, patent filing, business development and strategic planning in particular to the Europe and India business corridor. She is also intensively involved in spreading IP awareness besides working on policy issues related to use of Intellectual property in promotion of science and innovation.

Mr. Saurabh Bindal
Saurabh Bindal is an advocate practising law at the Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court, India. He was called to the Bar in 2012. Saurabh holds a degree in Engineering and Law. He is an alumnus of Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Saurabh has worked with reputed law firms in India. He has authored a number of books and papers on law and keeps writing columns for various newspapers. He also undertakes speaking assignments at various forums. His interest areas include the Constitution and its intersection with intellectual property law. He has focused his practice on litigation and dispute resolution. He appears in different forums and handles high stake litigations and arbitrations. In his present role, he is leading the disputes and litigation practice of a reputed law firm as an Associate Partner.

Ms. Pooja Khemani
Ms. Pooja Khemani is an IP and Business consultant at Tata consultancy services having a techno-legal background. She has an illustrious career spanning over more than a decade and a half in IP industry,
during which she successfully enabled idea generation, invention harvesting, patent protection and prosecution for a large number of clients. She has a broad experience in providing consultation to
multitude of IP owners ranging from grass root inventors to some of the fortune 500 companies including, for example Nokia, Samsung, Texas Instruments, Motorola to name a few. During her career she worked for Evalueserve, a leading global IP services provider followed by a leading US based law
firm specializing in IP protection and prosecution. She pursued entrepreneurship for almost four years where she got a chance to engage with clients from multiple geographies including US, Europe and
India. Apart from patent protection, she is actively involved in technology scouting for
commercialization.

Mr. Aman Sinha
Mr Aman Sinha has a techno-legal background; he has been skilled as an engineer majoring in Information Technology and then qualified to be a lawyer specialising in Intellectual Property laws. He attained his LL.B. from the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. After that, Mr Sinha served Bosch India as an Intellectual Property Counsel for over three years. He has advised the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell as an IP Expert in their efforts to expand the benefits introduced in the Patent Amendment Rules. He holds the unique distinction of being shortlisted by the WIPO Secretariat to deliver an Intervention titled “Turbocharging the IP System to keep pace with the data-driven world” in the WIPO Conversation on IP & Frontier Technologies in September 2021. After his successful corporate stint, he was selected as the first Law Researcher for the Intellectual Property Division of the Delhi High Court. He is a staunch advocate for Continuing Legal Education and has completed the CopyrightX certification from Harvard Law School and a Summer School on US IP Laws from George Mason University. He regularly delivers invited lectures to expand IP Awareness in India and is also part of the FICCI Forum for IP Professionals.

Mr. Abhishek Bharti
Abhishek Bharti is the General Counsel, for GE Global Research based in Bangalore. He joined GE four years ago in and has created a reputation based on his expertise, business partnership and contributions in the area of General legal advisory, litigation, contract management, government affairs and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining GE, he has worked with United Nations as an International Civil Servant in Vienna, Austria, Senior Legal Counsel at Tyco Electronics, Bangalore, Legal and Compliance Counsel in GE Healthcare, Bangalore and Glaxo Smithkline, Gurgaon
He joined Glaxo SmithKline as a Management Trainee after completing his bachelor’s degree B.A.LL. B(Hons.) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore in year 2006. Later, he completed his Master of Laws (LL. M.) from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, TUFTS university, Massachusetts.
Abhishek is an Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) certified in-house Counsel. He has written articles on legal and anti-corruption matters in Indian and international legal journals, and has co-authored a book titled “Combating corruption and money laundering in BRICS countries: Legal frameworks and Institutional arrangements”.

Mr. Vaibhav Dalvi
Vaibhav Dalvi is Head of IP and Technology at Welspun Group (AVP). Welspun Group is an international conglomerate having diversified Business of Home Textiles, Pipes, Steel, Infrastructure and Investment. With over fifteen years’ experience, Vaibhav has worked on various aspects of IP Laws from conceptualization, prosecution of IP, including but not limited to strategizing in complex IP Litigation. He has been recognized as The World’s Leading Corporate Trademark Professionals by World Trade Mark Review in the 2021 edition of WTR 300. He has also been awarded with the IPR Leadership Awards for Excellent Contribution in the field of Patents by Social Talks (An NGO Registered under Niti Ayog).
